A few mornings ago Sen. Joe Manchin, (D-VA) said on Fox News’ “Fox and Friends” (slightly paraphrased, working from memory from a soundbite I heard ):
So now what we all knew anyway has been confirmed by a well respected Democratic Party senator…the inconvenience, the aggravation, and the pain (in the case of denying benefits to the families of the military killed in action) was intentional, a deliberate act by an administration that is without ethics, without morals. This administration has shown yet again that one of Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals”…that the end justifies the means, any means…is a large part of its playbook.
So…we do what now?
I’ve written in the past about the possibility that at some point in the future the people of the United States would probably be forced to choose between fighting (as in armed revolt) a tyrannical government or becoming slaves, owned by that government. Over the last few years, because of both Democrats and Republicans, it has become apparent that at some point in time there may well be a need for a second American Revolution.
The question is, is that time now? Is it time for the people of the United States to have an Egypt moment?
It is not time for an armed revolt…but it is very, very close, unless we are willing to see the destruction of this grand experiment, this democratic republic. Consider:
- Obama, who swore an oath to protect and defend the Constitution and the laws of this country picks and chooses which laws he will “protect and defend” and which ones he won’t, dependent only on his personal preference, not the laws of this country.Being for gay marriage after he was against it, he directed the DOJ not to defend it.
- The Affordable Care Act specifies a time and date, midnight on December 31, 2013, that Obamacare was to go into effect, and plainly states the law was to apply all Americans…plain, black letter law. Obama has carved out exceptions for every group in existence except the Union of Rodeo Clowns.
- Again last night, while kicking the economic can down the road yet again, Congress proved beyond doubt that they consider themselves a ruling class, separate and “special” from us, the great unwashed. They refused to participate in the same Affordable Care Act, Obamacare, that they have forced on the rest of us.
- Obama, who has proven himself to not care about the republic, who’s stated intention is to “fundamentally change America, has admitted that when he doesn’t get his way via Congress he will simply go around them and rule by executive fiat, an action he has already taken several times with his Presidential Orders. He is trying, and so far succeeding, to make Congress irrelevant.
So, again, the question is, “Is it time for an armed revolt?
A definitive “No” is a tempting answer, and would be a comforting one. Unfortunately, at this point I think the real answer is “probably not yet, but will be yes very soon if Congress doesn’t begin to push back.
